Through the wrath of the Lord of Hosts, the land is burned, and the people are like fuel for the fire (Isaiah 9:19)

WHAT IS THE WRATH OF GOD?

God, as Ultimate Reality, is both the eternal source (Divine Parent) and creative expressivity (Divine Child) of all life everywhere, of all that exists. We, as created beings, are part of this finite expressivity of the Divine Life. We are the finite children of God.

The eternal, essential nature of God is Love (1 John 4:8). In the love of Jesus Christ, which is the power of his resurrection, has been revealed True God and, therefore, True Life (1 John 5:20).

Those who abide in Christ Love abide in God and God abides in them (1 John 4:16). They are one with their created essence as children of God (Heaven). They are whole (holy) and one with true life.

Those who do not abide in Christ Love exist in alienation from their true, created essence (Hell). They are un-whole (unholy) and, thus, estranged from true life. They have fallen into dischord, destruction and death (State of Evil).

Because God is Love, the finite expressivity of the Divine Life necessarily involves freedom of choice. Divine Love is urgent appeal and not forced action. It is the crying out of the loving parent for the sake of the beloved child. We are indeed free to choose Christ Love as the one, true way of life or not, with dreadful consequences to ourselves and others!

Those who turn away from Divine Love as true life bring the judgement of evil consequence upon themselves, upon their very souls. Because God is Love and, therefore, life and our created essence is Love, to turn away from Love necessarily brings the self-inflicted consequences of death and destruction in the universe.

It is this eternal wave of consequence grounded in the essential nature of divinity as Love that is meant by the phrase, "the wrath of God"!
